James Lackington Blue Plaque

At 10.30 on Thursday 14th September 2017, a Blue Plaque was unveiled outside Temple Methodist Church by Councillor Christine Channon to honour James Lackington, whose vision led to the building of the first Temple Methodist Church in Budleigh Salterton in 1812.  More information about James Lackington and his links with Temple and Budleigh can be found on the "Church-History" page.

About 20 members and friends assembled for the occasion which commenced with an address by Rev Jonathan Froggatt who gave a brief background to James Lackington's life and his connections to Methodism and his move to Budleigh that led to the building of the original Temple Church here.

After the unveiling by Councillor Channon refreshments were served in the Church foyer.
