Pastoral letter 27th September 2020

Greetings in the name of Christ

This week in the manse has seen another celebration.  Penny and myself celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary with a lovey meal and wander around Shaftesbury.  We also discovered that the old Hovis advert with the boy cycling down the steep cobbled lane was not filmed in Yorkshire.

Support for Beit Sahour

Jean reminds us that it is this time of year that fees are due for the students.  Can you help?

A number of you already support students, and many of you contribute to the regular collections that take place.  Obviously these collections have not happened since lockdown.

Lympstone church are arranging a zoom lunch this Saturday (26th September).  You can order a home delivered lunch of homemade vegetable soup, giant cheese scone and a special cupcake. To add to the fun, for those who use Zoom (dial in or on screen), we will enjoy our lunch together.  This will take place at 1pm on Saturday 26th September.

Sadly the lunch can only be delivered locally, and we have had to limit it to 60 lunches, but it would be great for our wider community to join in with us as we share food and prayer.

There is no fixed price, but please make a donation either by:

·      Cash – leave your donation on the doorstep in a container (jam jar, Tupperware box or similar).  We will deliver between 10.30 and 12.30pm.

·      Electronic bank transfer to the church account Lympstone Methodist Church General Fund   Sort code 40-20-32. Account 41505629

Please label your transfer clearly as “Lunch for Beit Sahour” so our treasurer can identify it correctly.  To book a place ring Gillian Hipkins no later than THURSDAY  01395 224442.

If Zoom or the lunch is not for you, you can send a cheque to me at :

1 Pebble Lane, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6NN and support the students in this very difficult time.

Please make cheques payable to Temple Methodist Church and marked for Beit Sahour

Communion on the Lawn

After the success the other week we plan to hold another outdoor communion on 4th October.  This will also be our harvest celebration week.  The service will be at 3pm

God bless
